Designers’ responsibility was first of all to refine ideas about the zine’s format which was offered by Editorials, and to realize how to finally print it out. Plus it was important for them to do research on possible materials and how pages will work with each other (creating mock-ups). Moreover, it was decided that we are going to print on riso, hence Designers had to thoughtfully explore all the future expenses and troubles that could appear in case of this particular printing process. After receiving completed spreads from all the participants, the Design team started to think about cover design and playing with mock-ups.
Then there was an organized meeting of all the teams, in order to share all the produced ideas with each other. It was important to catch up on news from everyone, because at that moment groups did not communicate well with each other. The meeting was beneficial for everyone, especially for Designers, who took into consideration all the advice.
The further work was to find the best paper for riso printing and to ask some advice on the zine’s concept from Printing studio’s workers in the university. Before that Designers had a long meeting about all the possible expenses and the way of printing, so it was a big surprise when during a workshop they understood that there is almost no pink color in the studio.
It was very unexpected, nevertheless, the solution was to print in red all the pink details. Everybody agreed, because eventually there was no such a big difference in shades. And finally there was made a schedule on printing days, which totally included 4 days of work in the studio.
